.: Special Christmas Layout :.
“Yuletide Greetings.”

A cute and adorable layout I used to get into the Christmas spirit.

.: December :.
“A few of my favorite things.”

These are a few of my favorite sweets! I’d just started making little food charms for jewelry in the middle of November, so I decided to do a cute, pink, sweets layout for December. I also made a major change in the general layout scheme (as you can see) since I’d been using the same basic template for the past few months I decided I wanted to do something more than change colors and images.

.: November :.
“What wisdom we can learn from cats.”

In October I brought home a new kitten, Pumpkin, and I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to highlight him and Morn for a layout.

.: October :.
“Oh, October, how I love thee.”

October is my favorite month. Autumn has officially begun, the leaves begin falling, the smells are incredible, it’s not too hot, it’s not too cold, pumpkin pie becomes popular, etc. The list could seriously go on. I got my Digital Rebel XTi in time to take some pictures for this new layout.

.: September :.
“There’s a horizon out there and it’s calling my name.”

I really, really loved September’s layout, though I felt I should have done it for July instead. September is kind of a special month for me because it’s when I first opened this site and I am very keen on the first layout I had. I was hoping to do a “revisted” layout for September, but when I made this I just couldn’t put it aside for another month.

.: August :.
“Dreaming…”

In August I was able to test out my first flash banner and footer! It didn’t always work on different page loads, and the music sometimes got in the way of the videos or the music I had in individual posts, but I liked the banner and footer so much I had to at least try. The full flash layout is now being used on my professional photography portfolio. So, I guess I get the best of both worlds.

.: July :.
“Pieces of Your Scent”

I wanted to do a yellow color scheme for July because it was mid-summer and I thought I should do a small tribute to the sun. I had the yellow flowers and yellow lace, so I ran with it. I’m not really happy with the pukey background color, but I tried everything and nothing else seemed to fit.

.: June :.
“Don’t forget me (please)”

I was really into Polaroids and got my first Polaroid camera so I figured a layout to tribute to it was worth a shot. I’d also been aching to do a teal color scheme for a while and so I finally just broke and figured that June was as good a time as any.

.: May :.
“At what age does the dreaming end?”

This one was so much FUN! (Aren’t they all?) I wore a ridiculous unicorn costume and tried to capture myself as if I was ten again, but my body size refused to cooperate. Still, it was very nostalgic and very moving layout with PINKS! Another first for me. I’m growing, I surely am.

.: April :.
“I spend a lot of time whispering to bugs, asking that they trust in me. Not yet, I say, it’s not warm enough yet.”

April was my spring, it’s time for us to welcome the sun layout. It’s probably one of my top favorites, actually. I hadn’t really used green before, and I wanted to experiment with a few different variations of the vintage/victorian theme I have going. I’m really enjoying it, but I think the banner image took the cake on this one.

.: April 1st :.
“I love Disney! April Fools!”

April 1st tends to be a field day for a lot of site owners, bloggers, designers, etc- I guess it’s something silly like poking your finger in the face of the net to say, “I can do anything I want to horrify you with my design abilities now and I can get away with it because it’s only for one day.” This was mine.

.: March :.
“Don’t forget me. (Please)”

For March I wanted to continue the feel of the vintage (in fact I’ll probably do a few more like this) but do a little bit more. For the banner I had “aged” photos, the dead roses, and the old tape over the images with the vintage background. I went back to the previous code I had been using because I really just loved it and the way it made everything feel.

.: February :.
“Don’t forget me. (Please)”

This one was a lot of fun to do, as most of them are. I wanted to dabble into this victorian, vintage theme, without quite going with the traditional victorian backgrounds yet. What I did was I took a table cloth that I purchased for $4, put it up as my backdrop, took several pictures, and then used the same background to be the background for the site. It made the “about me” images fun as well, because they had the same background and just really tied everything together very nicely. I also wore a wig to help with the vintage look and feel.

.: January :.

“Perhaps it’s frivolous; painting, photographs, writing it all down. But what if I wake tomorrow only to have forgotten everything?”

I spent a lot of time on this one making brushes, and Jei and I together created the stunning wallpaper. Hidden behind the actual site content lies hours worth of work, and several of the photos I took of the state hospital in Traverse City used as brushes. We tried to incorporate as much as possible into the background as to match the theme- art, painting, writing, and photography. Though the tagline seems to be a bit on the mournfully contemplative side, it fits the overall mood for January. There are the reflections of the previous year and everything that was done mixed with pensive thoughts for the future. A delightfully alluring follow up to the fun and sassy Amelie style.
